Fujiya’s Victoria Location June 2023

Longtime devote of all Fujiya locations (I buy their cloth bags as accessories/so I can use one for a sushi themed battlevest at some point), if you don’t like Fujiya I don’t know what to say.  There are still some really good prices, and the taste, portions and convenience still surpass a lot of restaurants wherever the prices don’t.

With that preamble out of the way, let me tell you about my lunch yesterday:

I was there while everything was fresh, about halfway through the midday rush.

Grabbed some karaage, still under $5 a tray.  Miso soup, under $4 and essential; lifegiving (I drink it cold out of the container, this is a tonic).  Little tray of Hawaiian poke for under $4, new try, “worth it?”  Yes.  Two karaage onigiri, the main event really.  This has to be their best onigiri, I hadn’t seen it there before.  Just deadly, wish I’d gotten more.  Washed it all down with a crisp, chilled diet coke because I’m disgusting and a cheapskate.  I was sorely tempted by the explosively overstuffed spicy salmon rolls but those ARE practically restaurant price at over $7 and I decided it would be overkill.  I don’t usually have a big stomach; this was two full meals for me, total was under $19 tax in.  Chopsticks, ginger, wasabi et al are still gratis.  Love this place.

First Fujiya review of many, I’m sure.
